Adelaide Road Trip and Friends
Another road trip over to Adelaide, this time I travelled on my own. Which was actually a lot better for me than the last trip, found it quite odd. Maybe it was because I didn’t need to stop as much and could go at my own pace. Although I still probably didn’t have the best sleeping plan set out. Easier to manage on my own, I worked an overnight shift, then drove during the day. Booked a backpackers place for two nights so I got to sleep before the event like a sensible person.
I have a lot of amazing friends who live in Adelaide. So the reason for going to these events hasn’t always been because of the guests. The fact that I get to see and hang out with friends, I don’t get to see otherwise. For this event I also offered to help out photographer Dennys Ilic. With his stall selling some of his photography prints. And selling the Amanda Tapping photo book, it was such a fun weekend spent with so many great friends.
I was kept pretty busy working at Den’s stall, but I did get away here and there. Such as when I went and got Richard Dean Anderson’s autograph, on the photo I had taken three years previous. I also got a photo and autograph from Emilie Ullerup. She signed my ‘Rubber Rocks and Apple Boxes’ book. On the Saturday night I also attended a dinner with Emilie which was amazing. I went with my mate Michelle and we had an awesome time. Teryl Rothery also had a dinner and was only a table over. Which meant we got to chat with her throughout the evening as well, it was great fun.
On the Sunday I decided to get another photo with Teryl. After spending time with her the previous evening I was reminded how awesome she is. And it’s always nice to have more mementos of times I have met these great guests. Unfortunately, I got caught up in the day and forgot to collect the photo. I have no idea how it turned out and I’ve not been able to get my hands on a copy.
Working and Having Fun
Had an absolute blast at this event, working with my mate Cindy to man Den’s stall. We had friends stopping by to say hello and catch up throughout the weekend. It was great, and of course Den and Ken were as amazing. They event took us out for dinner after the event as a thank you. Then on the Monday morning I started the long trek back home. This time I had the company of Cindy with me for the majority of trip.
