Melbourne Supanova with Teryl
A new event hit Melbourne in 2008 called Supanova, an event previously held interstate. Their guest list included Teryl Rothery and Jewel Staite. Teryl is my second favourite actress from Stargate following Amanda Tapping. I was thrilled to get the opportunity to meet her, so there was no way I’d miss this event. This was also the first event I attended since getting my improved Stargate costume. With more authentic looking Stargate jacket.
Guests and Photos
there were a few guests that I was interesting in meeting other than Teryl, mainly Jewel Staite. But also Michael Winslow who is incredibly talented, I love Police Academy and was honoured to meet him. Being able to hear him make those incredible sound effect noises in person was amazing.
Jewel was also really lovely to meet too, very friendly and easy to talk to. I had to get a photo of myself with both Teryl and Jewel, and I was wearing my Stargate jacket for them. I also got a second photo with Teryl, one with me wearing my scrubs instead, she played a doctor after all.
Some of my best memories from this event, hearing Michael Winslow on stage making his sound effects. He scared the crap out of everyone but it was brilliant, such an interesting talent. I had to go and get an autograph from Michael, and my mate Locky had some Police Academy prints.
I feel bad that I was so excited to talk to Teryl when getting autographs, that I don’t recall my conversation with Jewel. It’s amazing what that giddy fangirl feeling does to you. I know that she was very lovely and I appreciated that. And Teryl was lovely too, we had a really good chat and I appreciated her for that.
Most of the day I spent in queues and hanging around with friends, it was a great day and I had a ball. I appreciate all the friends I spent time with and the guests I met. I could only attend this event for one day, and I had to take off early. I’m so glad that I got the opportunity to attend this event, it’s nice to see another new Melbourne event. These events are a joy to attend and you meet new people at every single on to them. I’m glad that Melbourne is getting more events for fans to enjoy.
