After Work with Chris
Evening with Chris Judge, an event a little different from others. Held in the middle of the week on a Wednesday evening with only two guests, Christopher Judge and Gary Graham. Paid a little extra for a VIP ticket, which included an extra mingle session with the guests. Had the chance to speak with both the guests and friends during this extra mingle session.
Unfortunately, I hadn’t watched any of Gary Graham’s work so I didn’t really know who he was. He was lovely and very friendly to speak with. Photographer friend Peter was there with his camera though and happened to get some photos of us. We got a few big group photos with Chris and other attendees. In one photo I was just standing to the side but last minute jumped up next to Chris and photobombed it. I snuck in and jumped onto the ledge behind Chris just as the flash went off.
Photos and Panels
I got two photos at this event, both with Chris Judge. One photo of just the two of us and then another with two other friends. Chris called us the Posse. Following the photo session was the panels and up first was Gary Graham. He told some fun and entertaining stories and enjoyed posing for photos.
Chris was up next for his panel and it was entertaining to say the least, also involved a lot of swearing. There was one lady in the crowd who asked a question on behalf of her daughter. Chris got her to call her daughter and then took the lady’s phone. When the girl answered he said it was God speaking, then followed it with it’s Daniel Jackson, but the girl hung up. Chris turns around and says “She just hung up on God AND Daniel Jackson”.
There were a lot of fun moments during this panel, Chris is brilliantly entertaining. At one point he even decided to have a bathroom break and decided to take the microphone with him. Luckily the thing went out of range so we didn’t hear anything.
Chris tries Vegemite
As Chris’ panel was coming to an end, Scotty got up on stage and then introduced me. It was my moment to bring out the Vegemite, so I got up and handed over a Vegemite tube to Chris. The first thing he asked was if it was lubricant. It took a little bit of convincing but eventually we talked him into trying it. He didn’t want to eat it on it’s own so asked for something to eat it with and someone offered a potato chip. Everyone started yelling that it was a bad idea, it would’ve been like salt on salt, too much salt.
He got himself a refill of Scotch, turns to Scotty and says “I’ve resisted this for 12 years”. He wasn’t going to be allowed to leave without taking it so he got up the nerves and tasted it. His reaction was brilliantly hilarious, he shook himself off and says “It tastes like puke, after you’ve puked it!”. He then finished with “It’s a little salty, but after being up 12 hours who isn’t?”.
During the autograph session I asked Chris to sign a few items for me. One of them being a promotional photo from the 200th episode. With Chris, Claudia, Ben and Michael dressed as characters from The Wizard of Oz. He circled his crouch and wrote ‘Wow’. Also gave Chris a reminder of his Australia trip with an Aussie cork hat. Which he was excited about and said he would wear to play golf.
We hung around for a while after getting out autographs, chatting with friends before heading off. It’s always great spending time with this amazing group of people. We always a good time together, I love being a part of this amazing community. The guests enjoy the atmosphere we create to, I think it’s comforting.
